Hello Kevin, and thank you for dropping a line to the Event Group Files. As a matter of fact, there has been an option taken out on the first novel of the series by Valhalla Films and Gale Anne Hurd, of Terminator, Armageddon and Alien fame, and I might add the former wife of James Cameron. Her production company sought financing from the major studios, but since EVENT would have been so expensive (estimated cost $180,000,000.00 plus, it was hard to get many takers, it was a combination of that cost, and I dare say her most recent track record at the box office (flops such as Aeon Flux, Armageddon, the original Hulk, and Punisher and a few others) that made the major studios leery at the least.
Since we allowed the option to expire, we are waiting on the studios to come to us. We refuse to allow the Event Group novels to be underachieved because of the fear of recent Sci-Fi and adventure film failings, and I won't allow the Group to be tossed about with comic book styling. We have, and will continue to look at mini series offers from the major networks, as soon as they stop with their continual rip off of Event Group story lines, and all my readers can tick them off on their fingers as to who and what shows they are.
So, there you have it. We will eventually place the series into the capable hands of men and women that see the potential for not only a trilogy, but a continuing line of serious and spectacular motion pictures, as we will settle for nothing less.

Your Event Group novels: oh my gosh, such ambition & potential...my literary-loving cup runneth over! I could easily picture a series of movies in the future, and am so glad that you are willing to patiently wait until someone can do a QUALITY rendition of them...they deserve the best!It shows you appreciate your readers, and rest assured we appreciate you! Keep up the great work! I have read Event, Legend, & Ancients, thoroughly enjoyed every last "dotted T & crossed I", and currently have Leviathan sitting here in my study, glowing like a nuclear bomb waiting to explode any second...but what a gloriously exciting explosion it will be! I am rushing through a couple other novels by other authors I started while awaiting mail delivery of Leviathan, but now like a little kid at Christmas am struggling to resist taking just "one little peek" inside the cover at a chapter until I finish these other novels I am reading. One little peek...and then another...and another...!
Although this is perhaps a bit outside the Event Group's teritory (or perhaps not so much??), seeing as how they usually mix it up- with science meets myth meets history meets sci-fi...is there a chance the Event Group will ever encounter such more traditional pillars of the horror genre as werewolves or vampires? I know they are more horror than sci-fi, but if anyone could pull off an interesting novel with these concepts in modern times, it would be you. Please let me know your thoughts. Keep on writing them, and you can believe I will keep on buying them (I can hold out as long as you can, even if I do have to post-pone paying the old electric bill to buy a truck-load of Golemon Event novels...ah, the aesthtic ambience of candlelight!!). I have recommended your novels to several of my friends, and they are collecting them now, also! A new Golemon novel is, after all, a true "Event"!

Thank you for writing. Rest assured that nothing is outside the auspices of the Event Group. If you'll recall in the very first novel, Department 5656 had investigated supposed werewolf attacks in France during the dark ages, and you can also rest assured that they will delve into this area again in an upcoming novel entitled 'Moondance.'
The investigations of Department 5656 will take you to places bordering on unbelievability---such places as Wallachia (Transylvania) for the Event that will take you into the real life of Vlad the Impaler for a tale called 'IMPALER,' and we'll also travel to the wilds of Mexico to investigate an invasion from the underground that is the horror of 'NEST.'
So you see, modern and old fashioned horror is not far off in the continuing investigations of the Event Group, so hang in there and I'll get them to you as fast as humanly (or inhumanly) possible!

Your reference to the flood of Noah being caused by the actions of Atlantis is one such event. Please continue to write but leave the bible out of your writing including I would appreciate the use of God's name being used in vain. On another note I do not know if any one else brought this up but Mylar will not stop a bullet. You had Jack putting on his Mylar Helmet instead of Kevlar Helmet. Also the final sinking of Atlantis had one mistaken idea. That is the creation of suction as it sinks. This Myth was proved false by the Myth busters. And from real world experience suction is created in to ways one you described correctly as the water flowed in to the tunnel which Operation Back door used. The other is when a object is drawn down a shaft, much like a syringe sucks in fluids. The island of Atlantis would create great amounts of turbulence but no real suction.
My last thought is on the death of Jack Collins. I liked the way you created him but his death seems contrary to the ideals of his training. I wish you had changed one thing to keep him alive and it would have been interesting and with in the frame of your story. Please pardon the roughness of the idea but as follows... in the beginning part of the book a mention of the vessel or capsule being prepared. Then at the end of the book as the island of Atlantis sinks many large objects break loose from their burial spots in the lava flows. One is the vessel mentioned earlier. The radar man also notes these objects and informs the captain of the sub. They must leave before these objects hit the sub and force the abandoning of Capt Collins in the water. The sub leaves the area believing Jack to be doomed. Unknowingly the vessel is a Ancient Sub used to place the tuning bells on the sea floor. It slams in to the unsuspecting Capt breaking his legs but trapping him in the debris on the deck. Jack wakes up and calls for help. Jack gets to retire form active duty (lost leg.) And marries Sarah. Sincerely Alan Smith Reply to this
First, thank you for your note to the website, it is very much appreciated. Now onto your comments.
As a writer of fiction, there is a fine line between writing action scenes and not being realistic, I try to do justice to real life scenarios. If you have ever served in the United States military, you will realize that taking the Lords name in vain, bad as that is, it does happen, thus real life. as for the scenario of Atlantis being the reason for Noah's flood, it is a fictional story (or is it?) No harm was intended to anyones faith, as you will notice in all Event Group stories, the faith of mankind and their religions are never disparaged in anyway by Department 5656, contrary to most adventure novelists, i tend not to preach to anyone, but allow the intelligence of my readers draw their own conclusions.
As for the Kevlar helmet fiasco, that was a mistake in editing ( a big blunder I admit) as a child of the 60's and 70's I was issued the old standby 'steel pot' and was sorry for that, it was heavy and only good for heating up C-Rations over a can of sterno (which never really got hot enough to heat a damn thing)
Now, the sinking of the island of Atlantis and the suction created. I hate to disagree with those brilliant scientists on 'Myth Busters', but they are wrong in this case. After exhaustive research on the subject, there are many accounts of large vessels creating a suction as they sank (very inconvenient for the survivors I'm afraid) One example---Let's take the eyewitness case of the Imperial Japanese Battleship Musashi, the flagship of the combined fleet. The battleship, displacing 72,800 tons was sunk in the battle of Leyte Gulf by United States navy aircraft. There were over 1000 of her crew pulled from the water with most accounts stating the fact that the giant battleship (sister ship to the powerful Yamato) pulled no less than 700 Japanese sailors down with her when she rolled over and sank.
So you see Alan, I would much rather place my faith in the eyewitness accounts of soldiers and sailors in battle over that of the Myth Busters, no offense, but they never teat to scale.
Now, as for the death of Jack Collins, he dies the way Jack would die, because hope was gone, not every man faces his own death as a hero, but just as a man, no more, no less.
Has anyone considered making the Event Group into a movie or TV series? I've finished everyone of hsi books and I am eager to read Leviathan! I can't wait!
